about

This EP brings together many influences: The three first tracks of the release recall house, breakbeat and soul music. Crâne de Poule recorded her voice in "Where the Rains fell down". The track Flashing Lights reminds us of the eighties, mostly concerning the chords, and the rhythm. This retro vibe goes very well with Mr Maph's powerful and soulful voice. The track Tsukumogami, more melancolic, is punctuated by a breakbeat rhythm. The piano is very present. The main melody is also played by a Koto, a traditional Japanese instrument. Hiroshi Watanabe aka Kaito offers us two very contemplative and poetic remixes. In Japanese folklore, Tsukumogami are objects that come to life on their 100th birthday. Any item reaching this age, whether it is a sword or a toy, can become a Tsukumogami, especially items that were used or worn a lot. They are considered spirits and beings.
